1. Where is the meeting point?
Lake Minnewanka is located on Lake Minnewanka Loop, just a 15-minute drive from Banff. If you’re driving, we recommend arriving at least 60 minutes before your scheduled trip to ensure you find a parking spot and have time to explore the area before heading to the docks. Lake Minnewanka’s directions can be easily found via Google Maps or by following the local signs.
2. Do you provide fishing equipment for the tour?
Yes, Banff Fishing provides fishing rods, reels, tackle, and modern electronic sonar equipment on all our guided trips. The tour includes an expert guide and a Parks Canada Fishing License.
3. Can I keep the fish I catch?
Each person is allowed to keep up to two fish if they bring their own cooler and have a plan for preparation. However, we strongly encourage catch-and-release within the National Park.
4. What should we wear or bring?
Please wear comfortable clothing. We recommend a warm layer and a rain jacket, as mountain weather can be unpredictable and change quickly. Also, please bring snacks and a water bottle, as food and drinks are not provided.
5. What if the weather is bad? Will the tour still operate?
Lake Minnewanka weather can be unpredictable. The lake tends to be cooler than Banff, so even on warm days, a jacket is recommended. Trips will only be canceled if it is deemed unsafe to head out. If a cancellation occurs, we will offer to reschedule.
6. What amenities and facilities are available at Lake Minnewanka?
The Black Anchor Snack Shop offers a variety of snacks and to-go food and drinks right off the lakeshore. Washroom facilities are available at the parking lot, and there are plenty of picnic and recreational areas around Lake Minnewanka. Please note that there are no washrooms on the boats.
7. Can you swim in Lake Minnewanka ?
We advise against swimming in Lake Minnewanka as the water is extremely cold, even during the summer months.
8. What type of fish will we catch?
You are most likely to catch Lake Trout and oversized Mountain Whitefish in Lake Minnewanka.
9. Are guide gratuities included?
No, guide gratuities are not included in the price. While not required, they are certainly
appreciated, especially for group tours.
10. What is the cancellation policy?
Tours are subject to a 48-hour cancellation policy. You will receive a 100% refund if you cancel more than 48 hours before your scheduled tour time.
11. What is the best Canadian fishing company?
Banff Fishing is a Canadian fishing company known for its expert-guided fishing tours in Lake Minnewanka. We offer unforgettable experiences, high-quality equipment, and professional guides to those looking to make the most of their fishing adventure in Canada.
12. Do you need a fishing license for catch and release ?
